Title The House That Rufus Built
Catalog Number KA-11
Object Name Print, Photographic
Description Rufus Keeler was the chief ceramicist hired by May Rindge in 1925-6 to build and manage her Malibu Potteries plant. This he did with great energy and skill, producing some of the finest, and today most sought after by collectors, ceramic art tiles ever made. We present here the story of the house that Rufus Keeler built for his family in South Gate, California, largely as told by its present owner, Brian Kaiser. Included is an album of photographs of the interior and exterior of the house, probably taken in the early-mid 1920s, made by Rufus Keeler and today in the archives of the Malibu Lagoon Museum. Donated by his son, Philip Keeler.
